Etienne Francey was born in 1997 in Fribourg, Switzerland. He graduated from the École de Photographie de Vevey in 2019. He works as an independent photographer, mainly in the commercial and editorial fields, and is represented by the Margot de Roquefeuil agency in Paris.

Inspired by the natural world, Etienne Francey uses various photographic techniques to distort and color the subjects he captures. In a constant search for a transformation of reality, his photographs are guided by the notion of movement.

His work has been published in newspapers and magazines such as L'Illustré, Fisheye Magazine and The Guardian. He won the Prix Hermann Elsner in 2017 and has been awarded four times at the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, organized by the Natural History Museum London, in 2013, 2015 and 2023.

In 2022, he exhibited his series Tritium at the Haus der Fotografie (IPFO) in Olten (CH). The same year, he was commissioned by LVMH for a carte blanche at Château d’Yquem, at Hennessy, and at TAG Heuer. This series was exhibited during the Journées Particulières at Louis Vuitton in Paris. In 2023, he was a finalist for the Prix Fisheye. Between 2024 and 2025, the Espace Jean Tinguely – Niki de Saint Phalle in Fribourg devoted a solo exhibition to his work.
